Mayor Bowser to Host Roundtable with DC Veterans in Support of Statehood

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, September 18, at 11:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host a roundtable discussion to hear from DC veterans who are urging Congress to support DC statehood ahead of the historic House hearing this Thursday, September 19. The event comes on the heels of a rally led by Mayor Bowser and 51 DC veterans on Pennsylvania Avenue with 51-star American flags in a salute to DC statehood.

More than 11,000 DC residents currently serve in the military, and over 30,000 veterans currently live in the District. Since World War I, the District has sent nearly 200,000 men and women to war, 2,000 of whom lost their lives in defense of their country.
