Take Action for DC Statehood
You don't need to be a policy expert to make a difference-- real change happens when people speak up together. You can take action for DC statehood right now:
- Contact your U.S. Senators to urge them to support legislation granting Washington, DC full statehood and voting representation;
- Call or email congressional offices to let them know democracy should include the more than 700,000 District residents;
- Share accurate information about DC statehood with friends, family and your networks to help build public support; and
- Stay engaged by following statehood advocacy efforts and responding to key moments when public pressure matters most.
For over a decade, the District has allocated funds to nonprofit organizations for educating citizens around the nation and pursuing strategies that highlight the lack of full democracy in the nation’s capital. The objective of the grant is to strengthen national awareness for DC statehood. The following organizations have been awarded the FY 2026 Grant to Promote District of Columbia Voting Rights and Statehood and continue to advocate for voting rights and statehood for the District of Columbia.
- Historical Society of Washington DC (DC History Center) - 50,000
- DC Vote - 47,500
- Heurich House Museum - 25,000
- League of Women Voters DC - 47,500
- Long Live Go-Go Foundation - 30,000
Every action — no matter how small — helps move us closer to equality and voting representation.
